Nighthawk RAX10 Setup

How to Set Up Nighthawk RAX10 Router?

1st Method: Using Nighthawk App

  • The router should be placed close to the internet modem first.
  • Power off the modem for some time.
  • Insert an Ethernet cable into the WAN port of the modem and one of the LAN ports of the Nighthawk router.
  • You can now supply power to the devices. Firstly, turn on the modem and then turn on the router. Ensure that the same sequence is followed.
  • On your smart phone, install the Nighthawk app.
  • When RAX10 is powered up completely, join its WiFi on the same phone.
  • Get the WiFi details on a sticker on the router. The user guide can also be referred to for SSID and WiFi password.
  • Launch the Netgear Nighthawk app.
  • Use Netgear login details to log in to the app.
  • If you do not have an account then create an account now.
  • Once you’re logged in, the prompts on the screen will help you complete the Nighthawk RAX10 setup process.

2nd Method: Using Web Interface

  • Turn off the internet modem first.
  • After placing the router next to the internet modem, form an Ethernet connection between them.
  • Ensure that the connection formed is secure and firm.
  • Now, plug in the modem and supply power. Next supply power to RAX10 router as well.
  • Once the router is on and the lights are stable, connect to its network.
  • You should now connect your computer or laptop. The connection can be either wired or wireless.

Wired: Run an Ethernet cable from the router to a PC.

Wireless: Select the router’s default SSID and insert the default password. The values can be located on its sticker or user guide.

  • Now, load up an internet browser of your preference.
  • In its address bar, type routerlogin.net or 192.168.1.1 and press Enter.
  • You will reach the router’s login page.
  • In the Username and Password fields, type the default values. These are the default values for your Nighthawk RAX10 router:

Username: admin

Password: password

  • Click Log In.
  • The Basic home page displays.
  • Go to Advanced > Setup Wizard.
  • Select the radio button next to Yes.
  • Now assign a WiFi name and password for your router.
  • Also create an admin password. Provide answers to the security questions.
  • Execute other prompts on the screen to complete the setup.

After you are done setting up the router, you should check for Netgear router firmware updates. Log in to the router and see if an update is available. You can manually install the update on the router using the steps provided below.

  • Download the firmware updates for the RAX10 router on your PC. Use only the official platform to download the firmware.
  • Now, log in to your router.
  • Connect your PC to the router’s network and visit the router login.net page on it.
  • Use the admin password that you created during the setup to log in.
  • Now, go to Advanced > Administration > Firmware Update.
  • Click the Browse button on the Firmware Update page.
  • Choose the firmware file saved previously.
  • Click Upload to begin the firmware update process.
  • Avoid performing any other online activity or turning off the router until the firmware updates completely.
  • The router reboots when the updates are installed successfully.
